Stacey and Patrick are one of those couples that make creating a beautiful wedding film easy.  They both were incredibly classy but with a twinge of Texas country which really shines through in this highlight film.  Last June, they were married in the Houston Museum District at La Colombe D’or, a boutique hotel with a ballroom that dates back to the 17th century.  The ballroom was actually constructed in France 300 years ago and then, many years later, transported in sections to the location that it is in today.  Like I said, classy.

One of the most charming things I found out about Stacey and Patrick was their last names, Greene and Beene.  Unfortunately, Stacey’s was Beene and Patrick’s is Greene so she will end up being Stacey Beene Greene.  So close to humor but not quite there!

I have a list of fun places I would like to travel to when filming a wedding.  One that requires no traveling at all is Kyle Field in College Station.  I’m not saying that the couple actually needs to get married on the 50 yard line, but taking photos there would be cool.  Last June my wish came true and I was able to film Ashley & Boone’s wedding.  The emails started like most of them, with her telling me they would be married at a church, but then things got crazy when she told me the reception would be at the Kyle Field Zone Club.  And they would be taking pictures on the field, and the groom’s cake was a replica football field, and the garter would be wrapped around a football when he threw it.  Okay so I didn’t actually know about the garter, but I really shouldn’t have been surprised.

Slightly more seriously, I hope this wedding conveyed how much Ashley and Boone were waiting for this day.  As the minister said, they were together for a long time, and had both grown a lot.  They realized that together they were better people, and they wanted it to last forever.

Cross Kyle Field off my bucket list (but seriously, if you’re getting married and having part of your wedding there I will gladly film it again), now all that is left is Hawaii, New Zealand, a mountaintop, Antarctica, and Germany to name a few locations.

What’s the best way to follow-up an important life milestone like graduating? Of course it’s moving on to the next big milestone and marrying the person you love the most. This is exactly what I witnessed when I filmed Stephanie and Ryan’s wedding in May of 2012.  I originally met Stephanie at Sara and Jason’s wedding last year.  It was great to head back out to Beaumont and film another wedding.  They even got ready at the same salon.

As I was filming the most important day of their lives, two things stuck out to me that the pastor said about their wedding day. The first thing was that he quoted Romans 12:15 when he said, “Rejoice with those who rejoice.” – this wedding embodied that.  An excited couple experiencing a joining together with their close friends and family.  Second, he said that this was their day and it truly was. The spotlight was on them and they were shining. They sparkled more than the fireworks that their guests used to send them off!

Big thanks to Taylor Stanley and Ashley Stineman for helping me film this wedding!

Before I talk about this awesome couple, let me just say that I fully support what Pinterest has done for so many weddings and what it will do for future brides.  I have seen more creativity and unique looks at weddings this past season than ever before, and I attribute much of it to an easy way for brides to be inspired by others through Pins.

This was my second wedding at the Brookwood Community Chapel, and the venue was just as beautiful as I remembered from the last wedding I filmed there.  I have been really embracing vintage and retro looks for my films lately and Sheridan and Wes catered directly to my tastes.  I could tell how uniquely beautiful this wedding would be when I saw Sheridan’s veil and dress.  It was really perfect!  The entire wedding had a style of its own and it was obvious that a lot of work went into every little detail.

Filming a wedding at the same venue was an exciting challenge for me because I had to rely on new angles and new ways of approaching my ideas.  While the wedding was similar in that it took place in the same location, I know that my team and I succeeded in expanding our variety of shots as well as thinking of new ones.  Having new equipment helped, but a new mindset was required as well.  For the wedding party photos we took them in the same location as before but with a slightly different time of day and new angles, exposures, and coloring, it looked brand new.  This wedding also took place closer to Summer and the longer days with lengthy sunsets really helped.  In the year since I have visited Brookwood I also gained a better knowledge of how to tell a story.  This all worked together to really push Sheridan and Wes’ wedding to the next level of quality.  I’m sure I will have more weddings at Brookwood Community in the future and that is something that I greatly look forward to.

Seth and Shawna are one of those couples that perfectly balances each other out. Seth is the loud, funny face making, laughing, starving musician that you can tell probably has a bit of trouble putting on his socks in the morning; while Shawna is a little more down to earth. They go perfectly together, which I think this wedding video illustrates rather well. Last December, my good friend Daniel Karr asked me if I would help him film their wedding at Crystal Springs in Magnolia Texas. I hadn’t heard of Crystal Springs but when I arrived I could see it was a perfect place for an outdoor wedding.

In a stand of trees surrounded by pastures, the wedding guests consisted of friends, relatives, and cows across the fence. One nice touch was the neighbor rancher was burning lumber next to the wedding venue making the air slightly hazy. This led to some phenomenal images captured with my new favorite camera, the Sony FS-100. This camera has all the strengths of DSLRs and none of the weaknesses. I will hopefully be adding one to my collection very soon. The rest of the venue was Pine and Cedar and smelled wonderful. I primarily shot with the Glidecam HD4000 and Kessler Cineslider.

Seth and Shawna’s wedding was truly beautiful and I hope to film at Crystal Springs again in the future.
